Capacitator Discharge Studs Process

When you need high-quality capacitator discharge studs, Delta Stud Weld is here to help. We proficiently fabricate these fastening devices in many sizes and configurations from various material types supplied by reliable United States of America-based mills.

Capacitor discharge stud welding, or CD welding, is a semi-automatic arc welding process performed without ferrules or flux. Lasting only milliseconds, this process can be undertaken on thin sheets of metal without pronounced distortion, burn through, or discoloration.

Benefits of CD studs

CD weld studs, or capacitor discharge weld studs, are small diameter fasteners joined to thin sheet metal. A CD stud can be shot to the attachment side without reverse-side marking, unlike traditional fabrication methods that require drilling a hole to insert a bolt for an attachment point.

This generates a clean, aesthetically appealing look without compromising quality or straightness. Additional benefits of CD studs include:

  • Highly effective
  • Strong
  • Lightweight
  • Versatile
  • Threaded or unthreaded capabilities

Benefits of CD Stud Welding

This welding process creates high-integrity welds with penetration so slight that dissimilar metals are joined without metallurgical problems. Additional advantages of CD stud welding include:

  • Fast process
  • Attractive appearance
  • High strength
  • Minimal backside marking

CD Weld Stud Material Types

Delta Stud Weld has an in-house team of knowledgeable engineers, gifted welders, and keen-eyed inspectors. We can supply CD weld studs and flanged CD weld studs manufactured from an array of material types.

  • Low-carbon steel
  • Stainless steel
  • Aluminum
  • Copper-plated mild steel

Inspectors use precision gauges to verify conformance with applicable industry standards or customer requirements. All raw material is checked for accuracy, and Material Test Reports can be supplied with shipments upon request. Orders are audited before load out.
